The Association of African Universities(AAU) has advocated the adoption of Open Access and Open Science amongst the member universities, with the objective of increasing research output, visibility, reproducibility and reuse. To support the adoption and development of these policies and mandates, a series of Open Science workshops will be hosted, spanning the continent with AAU partner offices in Northern, Eastern, Western and Southern Africa.
The Open Access/Open Science workshops targeting research leadership in AAU member regions and universities is proposed with the objective of creating awareness and education on the importance and best practice of Open Access/Open Science. The desired outcome is engagement and buy-in by the academic community on the adoption of Open Science.
