The Association of African Universities, AAU in partnership with the University of Kigali, Rwanda, invites Directors of Research, Researchers, University Librarians, Library Assistants, and IT Staff of the Universities Libraries to the DATAD-R workshop to be held on the campus of University of Kigali, Rwanda from October 26-30, 2021. The workshop is to strengthen the capacity of Universities to create a critical mass of E-content to support the core mandates of our HEIs and also help institutions manage and disseminate the research output from their faculty and students widely for greater visibility and impact. It will afford an opportunity for participants to share their experience and learn about new trends in electronic content management.
This is an in-person training workshop and participants are expected to be onsite.
Why in-person in a pandemic and social distancing era
- The workshop is totally hands-on with on-site guidance for real time implementation
- Experience from previous hands-on training shows participants coming with computers that require fixing because of the different operating systems, before it can be used in the training (this fixing is difficult to carry out online)
- There will be a day when each participating institution will have personal reviews of plans and also repository reviews for institutions that have an existing platform
The registration fee is Nine Hundred Dollars ($900) per participant. The registration fee covers Accommodation for 6 days (B&B), training venue, snacks, lunch & snacks and training material and airport pickups for international delegates, and Five Hundred Dollars ($500) those not requiring accommodation. Local Participants will cover their costs of air travel or transportation. Please register before October 15, 2021, to allow time for visa application processes if you need travel visa to get to Rwanda.
